সত্য আর মিথ্যা মিললো একদা সাক্ষাতে,
পারষ্পারিক দ্বন্দ্ব মেটানোর তীব্র তাগিদে।
হাঁটতে হাঁটতে পৌঁছালো এক কুয়ার পাড়,
প্রস্তাব এক করলো মিথ্যা, সত্যকে এবার।
‘চলো, স্নান করি আমরা কুয়ার স্বচ্ছ জলে’,
‘দাঁড়াও, পরখ করে নেই আগে’ - সত্য বলে।
মিথ্যার প্ররোচনায় পরনের পোশাক ছেড়ে,
কুয়ার ফটিক জলে উভয়েই নেমে পড়ে।
মাঝে কোন ফুঁড়ে মিথ্যা উঠে এসে পাড়ে,
পালায় আচমকা, সত্যের পোশাক পরে।
খানিক অপেক্ষার পর, না ফিরলে মিথ্যায়,
সত্য ভিরমি যায়, ভেবে হয় যে নিরুপায়।
খানিক বাদে সত্য উঁকি দিয়ে তাকিয়ে চারপাশে,
মিথ্যাকে পায়নি দেখতে কোথাও ধারে-কাছে।
দেখলো যবে নিজের বসন তার নেই যে হেথায়,
রাগের মাথায় মিথ্যাকে খুঁজতে নগ্ন শরীরেই ধায়।
‘নগ্ন সত্য’কে দেখে সভ্য সমাজের লোক,
ধিক্কারে, “ছিঃ, ছিঃ! এ কোন উজবুক!”
যতই বোঝাতে চাইলো সত্যিটা মানুষেরে,
কেউ চাইলো না শুনতে কভু ধৈর্য্য ধরে।
রাগে-অপমানে সত্য দিলো ডুব কুয়াতে ফের,
হয়নি কখনও সে যে আর কুয়া থেকে বের।
সেই থেকে সত্যকে যে পায়নি কেউ আর খুঁজে,
সত্যের পোশাক পরা মিথ্যাকেই তাই সবে পূজে।

Truth versus Lie
Truth and Lie met once long ago,
With an urge to resolve their disputes of ego.
Walking together, they reached a well,
Upon a thought which Lie tell:
“Let’s bathe in the pool, cleansing our souls”,
“Let me test that first”, - Truth says.
Took off the garments as Lie’s evil hid,
so both descended into the pure liquid.
After some time, Lie came out of the serene well,
abruptly ran away, wearing Truth’s apparel.
After a short wait, when he saw Lie didn’t return,
Truth’s stupefied, understand not, what can be done.
After a while, Truth was peeking around,
Lie wasn’t anywhere near that he found.
When he saw that his apparels were not there,
went in anger to look for Lie in the naked attire.
Members of the civil society witnessed the ‘Naked Truth’,
“Fie, Fie! Who is this idiot!” – they cursed.
As much as he tried to explain the truth that essence,
no one did listen to him with tolerance.
In anger and disgrace, Truth sank again in the well,
And never ever he came out from his dwell.
Since then, no one could find the Truth anymore,
Lie, clothed in Truth, is worshiped therefore.
